Solid Oak Sideboard – France, 1950s

Solid Wood Sideboard Signed Georges Guy – Gouézec, April 1958

This imposing solid wood sideboard was made in April 1958 by Georges Guy, a cabinetmaker based in Gouézec, as confirmed by the handwritten inscriptions preserved on the back of the piece.

Its highly architectural façade opens through two large side doors framing a central arrangement of three drawers. The doors are decorated with geometric panels composed of numerous carved pyramid-shaped motifs, highlighted by a succession of bold mouldings. The sides repeat this vertical panelled design, while the top features an elegant geometric arrangement of the wood grain.

The cabinet stands on four substantial feet decorated with carved fluting.
